Sustain Our Strengths Solutions (SOS)

A healthier veterinary workplace starts with how the hospital works.

Veterinary teams cannot thrive on resilience training alone when the work itself creates preventable strain and veterinary burnout. Sustain Our Strengths Solutions (SOS) is a six-month veterinary consulting program from Veterinary Solut!ons Services that helps hospital leaders identify sources of workplace stress, make practical changes, and build a stronger experience for the people who care for patients and clients every day.

For: Independent veterinary hospitals, multi-location groups, and leadership teams seeking a practical way to improve team experience, communication, and retention.

What We Address

We look at six conditions that shape daily work, then focus on the issues that matter most in your hospital:

  • Control: Give team members clear responsibilities, appropriate autonomy, and more predictable schedules.
  • Reward: Review recognition, growth opportunities, skill use, and the ways people experience the value of their work.
  • Workload: Improve scheduling, staffing plans, delegation, and workflows that create unnecessary pressure.
  • Community: Strengthen communication, trust, teamwork, and constructive conflict resolution.
  • Fairness: Clarify expectations, decision-making, policies, and opportunities for team members to be heard.
  • Values: Align the hospital's stated priorities with daily decisions, patient care, and client service.

How SOS works

  1. Listen and assess
We gather confidential team feedback, interview leaders, observe or review daily workflows, and identify where strain is showing up. We also review relevant measures such as turnover, overtime, missed breaks, and schedule patterns when available.
    ‍‍
  2. Set priorities together
We share a clear findings summary and help leadership select a small number of changes with the greatest practical value. Each priority has an owner, a timeline, and a way to track progress.
    ‍‍
  3. Put changes into practice
Through leadership coaching and team working sessions, we help implement changes such as clearer roles, better delegation, scheduling standards, communication routines, recognition practices, and fairer, more consistent policies.
    ‍‍
  4. Check progress and sustain it
We collect follow-up feedback, review what changed, adjust what is not working, and leave leaders with a plan they can continue using after the engagement.

What Your Hospital Receives

  • A confidential team experience assessment and leadership debrief
  • A prioritized action plan built around your hospital's needs
  • Practical tools, workflows, and leadership coaching to support implementation
  • Progress check-ins and a final sustainability plan

The exact mix of onsite work, virtual sessions, and team participation is tailored to the hospital. SOS is designed to address workplace conditions; it is not a clinical assessment or a substitute for individual mental health care.
